Information for Veterinary Practices
The vet is an essential part of the team in a rescue situation, in order to be able to identify possible injuries that may not be immediately obvious, assess viability of the animal and sedate/anaesthetise in order for the rescue to be carried out safely for all involved.
This section of our site contains valuable information specifically aimed at veterinary practices. A login is required to access these rescources. To access these pages, please

Our register needs you!
The Register of Equine Veterinary Practices forms part of the Emergency Services Protocol, which includes procedural guidelines for those involved in animal rescue. We have over 200 veterinary practices signed up, who have agreed to try to attend an incident, when called upon. This may sound like a lot, but when you think there are nearly 1400 Equine practices in the United Kingdom, there are still many more that would make a huge difference in an emergency.
Imagine if a horse became trapped 10 minutes from your surgery, but the Emergency Services called the nearest practice on the list that was half an hour away - your presence on the list would have saved valuable time in the horse getting care!
If you are not already on the Register, and would like to help support the Emergency Services at rescues, then click here to download a sign up form from our Downloads section. North East England, Yorkshire and Wales have been identified as areas where we need more practices, so if you are in these regions, please seriously consider signing up.
